Dear readers of StopGame blogs, sponsors, as well as authors who tried to take part in the competition – I hasten to please you that the long-awaited moment has come and we have gathered to sum up the results of this major event!
As part of this blog, all participating nominees will be analyzed, as well as the strengths or weaknesses of their work will be described, the final results will be summed up, and voting will take place for the Audience Award. For this reason, let’s not delay and get started!
Sonic Riders – Gumboool
Let’s start with something dear and, unfortunately, a little sad. Sonic is one of the franchises that I personally have a bit of a soft spot for. However, at the same time, he is extremely demanding in her question… Comrade Gumbool did a very thorough job of analyzing the history of creation and features of the creation of Sonic Team, and at the same time introduced us to fan art and was even able to interview one of the members of the team of enthusiastic fans.
This is a really good and high-quality work, which I can recommend for your review, but it’s difficult for me to say that this work somehow stands out among many other participants in the competition. I would say that the blog is, to some extent, quite standard, which is kind of my criticism of the author. When you read a blog on the subject of a blue hedgehog, you want to see much more individuality, non-standard approaches to storytelling and other elements.
Perhaps this is, of course, a matter of taste, but this aspect greatly influences the perception of the entire blog as a whole from my perspective. Anyway, I wish fellow Gumball good luck in voting for the People’s Choice Award and thank him for his participation!
INDIKA — Dmitry Epikhin
If the work of the previous participant was quite standard, then about the work of Dmitry Epikhin in the field of religious images and their meanings in the INDIKA gaming space – I can hardly say this.
The blog is made very painstakingly: with care for details, the meaning of project elements, sources of inspiration for the authors and many other features of the project. And the icing on this cake is a very detailed interview with a clergyman. I strongly recommend everyone to familiarize themselves with such unique content!
However, in comparison with the works of other participants, I would like to note that the volume of material is somewhat small. The topic is incredibly interesting and unique, and with Dmitry’s presentation you can simply read it, but still I can’t help but feel that on the general topic of this blog and beyond INDIKA, much more could be said, as well as discussed more interesting topics with the guest for this interview!
As they say: very tasty, but as if it’s not enough… I wish Dmitry good luck in the next vote and hope that you can feel the same range of unique topics that I felt when reading his blog! Thanks to Dmitry for participation!
Romance of Russia – BuKing
Without straying too far from https://wildzcasino.uk the Russian theme, let’s move on from the area of God’s service to something more down-to-earth and closer to the ordinary citizen of our beautiful and broad country – the work provided by BuKing will help us with this!
A very atmospheric blog dedicated to projects with extremely attractive vibes from the outback of Russia, or from the times of the nineties and 2000s, both with a pleasant element of evoked feelings of nostalgia or general perception, as well as more unpleasant aspects, maybe even oppressive loneliness. The author copes extremely successfully with conveying these aspects, which allows you to feel all this magnificent flair of the Russian hinterland in many different projects.
However, I would like to add that the blog seems to lack musical accompaniment to deepen this atmosphere, as well as a stronger emphasis in the blog topic on comparison with real objects and regions of the Russian Federation. Yes, you and I already live in these locations, but it seems like there aren’t enough details to deepen the immersion in the entire blog.
Nevertheless, I wish sincere good luck to the author in the voting and want to thank him for such a wonderful work, which ideally correlates with such close autumn-winter vibes, which are not really enough this year. I highly recommend everyone read it!
3 Place: Freebird Games – Gwinter
The top three winning blogs are opened by a work about games by Kan Gao, authored by Gwinter. I would like to say right away that a truly grandiose job was done.
Consistent, natural storytelling. Excellent design and text structure. The author’s approach and a monstrous amount of work. Excellent elaboration of the audio accompaniment of the entire work and an incomparable transfer of key elements of the entire series, for which I, as a fan, can give a low bow. And at the same time, as a fan, I’m ready to complain about this magnum opus!
The theme of the main storyline was poorly revealed, which I really missed after reading all this work and left an extremely unpleasant aftertaste after reading it, and at the same time there is a lack of additional materials outside the main element of the narrative. However, despite such nuances, I cannot directly blame the author for this or recommend that you read it.
I strongly recommend everyone to read this truly worthwhile work, which also receives the title the most talked about blog competition with a huge lead over competitors.
2nd place: Turians and Vakarian Garrus – Akkekego
Akkekego is an incredibly meticulous and colossal work in the Mass Effect universe, which is extremely difficult to underestimate. However, I want to say right away: I confess, I’m not familiar with the Mass Effect universe, which is why we discussed for a very long time about the place of Akkekego’s work in the competition and came to the conclusion that we have now.
A truly titanic work was done on the blog, and most importantly, it was extremely well designed. Even minus the video version of the blog, this is a truly huge and magnificent blog, and if you consider the video materials, then you can expect 80 minutes of quality content!
Only here, there is a small nuance that we did not ignore when comparing the two works: despite the truly huge volume, after familiarizing ourselves with the work we did not have the feeling that we would be ready to return to this work in the future. As if the author didn’t have enough spark that would attract the viewer’s attention to the material and add originality to it.
However, we highly recommend you read this work! I would also like to recommend that you read the author’s blog on BioShock!
1st place: Alcohol in video games – Floppy
And, no matter how sad or wonderful it is to realize this, lower vices have defeated objectivity and the best blog of our competition remains the authorship of Floppy.
Jokes aside, the author’s work is extremely well done in terms of structure, presentation, editing, visual storytelling, dynamics, personality and overall approach. At the same time, the topic is far from trivial and arouses great interest. I highly recommend checking out the video blog. This is really unique and cool work. And, importantly, you’ll really want to come back to it later!
However, I would like to see a slightly better design for the text part of the material, due to the overuse of images when designing. However, the very high quality of the video material makes up for this drawback.
And this is what allows Floppy to take first place in our competition.
